The marching band uniform is issued prior to each game and competition from the uniform room. It is worn during marching season; it never goes home with the students except for initial hemming of the pants, if required. Band students will be fitted to a uniform during the first week of pre-season band rehearsals.
The marching band uniform consists of a jacket, a pair of bib pants,a shako (special marching band hat), white gloves, a marchingband t-shirt, black shoes, athletic shorts worn under bib pants,black calf-length socks, and band student sweatshirt.
Band T-shirt
Band students will be provided one band t-shirt at no charge. Only students wear the marching band t-shirt. T-shirts are required to be worn under the marching band jacket and during attendance at a pep band or pep rally. Students may purchase extra t-shirts for nominal fee. Please contact our uniform parent if you wish to purchase one.
Dinkles (Black marching shoes)
Rookie Marching Band students will be measured for a pair of black marching band shoes during the first week of preseason rehearsals. All students must wear the same shoes, as it is part of the uniform. The first pair will be provided at no charge. Any additional shoes required during the marching season will be at the student's expense.
Rules For Wearing Your Uniform
  • No hair on your shoulders - long hair must be pinned up or will require a hairnet.
  • No jewelry, including earrings, or odd hair accessories.
  • Hair accessories should closely match the color of your hair.
  • No wrist watches.
  • No hair product that might transfer to the uniform
  • No nail polish
  • No make-up that might transfer to the uniform
  • No eating or drinking (except water) while in the Marching Band uniform except that which is provided by the Chaperones
Band Sweatshirt (Hoodie)
In addition, students will be provided one band student sweatshirt (Hoodie). It is part of the uniform during cold weather. The first sweatshirt will be provided at no charge. Any additional sweatshirt required during the year will be at the student's expense and we will have limited availability.
Gloves
Band students will be provided a pair of rehearsal gloves (short) and a pair of performance gloves (long) if their instrument requires it. The first pairs are provided free of charge.
Other Required Items
Students must provide their own athletic shorts or "Umbro" type shorts to be worn under marching pants for group changes. Students must also provide their own calf-length black socks. We suggest having several pairs. It is also suggested that students purchase thermal-type undergarments for the cold weather.
