All band and orchestra members raise money by collecting contributions in neighborhoods within the West Springfield High School boundaries. Student teams go door-to-door asking for tax-deductible donations and turn in money collected.
Why Do We Need a Tag Day?
Thousands of dollars are needed each year to run a complete music program. With the school system's budget cuts, donations from family, friends, and neighbors are needed to support all of the music department programs. This provides thousands of additional dollars that aren’t provided by FCPS and WSHS.
Who Should Participate?
All West Springfield High School band and orchestra members. This is a HIGHLY ENCOURAGED event for any student affiliated with these programs!!! Band student participation in Tag Day is a key component to earning a Varsity letter.
When is Tag Day?
Tag Day is usually held on a Saturday early in September after school starts, 8:00 AM until mid-afternoon (finish time dictated by number of students and drivers participating in the event),.see the calendar for specific date and time listing. Due to the current situation with school activities restrictions from COVID-19, this event may be virtual and/or postponed this year.
Where Do We Meet?
West Springfield High School Sports Lobby/Auditorium.
How Can Music Program Families Support Tag Day?
Ensure your music student participates! We need adults to help drive students to collection areas, tabulate donations, and help with hospitality and uniforms. This is an ALL day event. No experience is required. On the job training is provided. We can't do this without your help!
